THE GROWTH OF STATE FUNDING OF OHIIENKO UNIVERSITY IN 2020

On January 24, 2020, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine first published a distribution of state funding for universities in 2020, which provided data on the allocation of public funds to higher education institutions and provided clear criteria for this distribution. The indicators by which the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine calculated the allocation of funding gives the country’s universities a specific understanding of the trajectory they need to move to improve their positions.

If a university is presented in the international rankings, it gives an incentive to work on international recognition and reputation. It increases the chances of attracting foreign students for studying. The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine considers such positions in these rankings: QS World University Rankings, The Times Higher Education World University Rankings and Academic Ranking of World Universities, entry to which will allow the university to receive additional funding.

Among 94 higher education institutions in Ukraine, which received 100-120% of their budget of 2019 in 2020, Kamianets-Podilskyi Ivan Ohiienko National University is on the 75th place. The University received UAH 78 320 061, which is 103.0% of the funding, provided for the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine by the Law of Ukraine “On the State Budget for 2020” among higher education institutions of state ownership in order to prepare higher education applicants.
