Sculptures Come to Life: K-PNU Restorers Revive Artistic Heritage

At Kamianets-Podilskyi Ivan Ohiienko National University, students of the Department of Fine and Decorative Arts and Art Restoration are breathing new life into sculptures. As part of the course “Introduction to the Specialty”, the students are guided by Associate Professor Oksana Klishch, Candidate of Architecture, and by restorer and Assistant Lecturer Timur Takirov.

Thanks to the partnership between K-PNU and the Kamianets-Podilskyi State Historical Museum-Reserve, the restoration process is brought out of classrooms and into public spaces. This allows the wider community to see firsthand how cultural heritage is preserved and renewed.

Among the current projects is the restoration of works by Volodymyr Lashko, an artist whose sculptures have been highly valued in European exhibition halls. This initiative not only demonstrates the continuity of a Ukrainian artistic tradition but also serves as an excellent example of forming a modern Ukrainian artistic dynasty.

This restoration project highlights the achievements of local artists within the European cultural heritage context. Future restorers are carefully returning the sculptures to their original beauty and ensuring their continued life in the museum space.
