Honoring Traditions – Building the Future!

On April 10, Kamianets-Podіlskyi Ivan Ohiienko National University welcomed back a special guest — Liliia Bohdanova, a 2007 graduate of the Faculty of Ukrainian Philology and Journalism. She fondly recalled her years of study and the wise mentors who guided her along the way.

Today, Liliia Vasylivna teaches philological disciplines at the Kamianets-Podilskyi Professional College, a branch of the Podillia State University. She didn’t come alone — she was accompanied by her students from Group B-211, specializing in Veterinary Medicine.

Professor Borys Kovalenko, Doctor of Philology and Director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Ukrainian Philology and Journalism, spoke to the guests about the Institute’s traditions and educational programs, inviting them to pursue their studies at Ohiienko University.

Valerii Shchehelskyi, PhD in Philology, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Ukrainian Literary History and Comparative Studies, and Head of the Ethnology Laboratory, introduced visitors to the ethnographic collection housed in the laboratory’s exhibition hall. He also led a hands-on masterclass on decorating traditional Ukrainian Easter eggs, or pysanky.

Valerii Vasylovych began with a brief talk on the cultural significance of Easter egg decorating in Ukraine, then presented unique examples from the laboratory’s collection. The intricate designs sparked genuine admiration and inspired participants to dive into the creative process themselves.

Under his guidance, attendees melted wax and immersed themselves in a world of imagination and artistry. The activity proved so engaging that time flew by unnoticed. Everyone left with a sense of pride in their own handmade creations.

The meeting was marked by joy, warm smiles, and a shared appreciation for the art of pysankarstvo — along with new skills and heartfelt memories.

Wishing you a peaceful and victorious Easter!
