The third stage of training within the project «Management of Internationalisation and German-Ukrainian Academic Cooperation 2022-2023 (MoI Ukraine)» has completed, implemented with the support of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, DAAD, Leibniz University Hannover (Germany) and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

Within the week, project participants took part in workshops on the following topics:

  • Internationalization at home
  • Internationalization of study programs (German and Ukrainian experience)
  • Virtual exchanges as an innovative practice in Europe
  • Change management

The speaker of the first workshop was Elspeth Jones , professor at the University of Leeds  (Great Britain).

Workshop participants watched a presentation on the topic: “Internationalization at home”, received tasks for discussion. The advantage of such a training format within the project is the opportunity to ask the speaker a question, as well as to discuss the issue in a group of colleagues from Ukrainian universities. The second workshop was interesting, because it was possible to compare the experience of implementing the internationalization of educational programs in Germany (speaker – Tania Reifenrath, project coordinator of the University of Göttingen) and Ukraine (speaker – Larysa Chovniuk, head of the Office for International Cooperation of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.

The main topics for discussion were the stages of internationalization of educational programs; difficulties encountered by both academic staff and international offices staff; advice and recommendations for more successful implementation of the set goals. The workshop on “Virtual exchanges” was presented by Sake Jager, project manager of the  University of Groningen  (the Netherlands).

Sake Jager answered such questions of project participants as: what are virtual exchanges, what are the differences between virtual exchange and virtual mobility, key components of virtual exchanges, how can virtual exchanges be integrated into international education.

Speaker Tania Raifenrath finished the training week with a new topic of the workshop – “Change Management”.

A pleasant bonus for project participants was the opportunity to join European Association of International Education for free.
