Bohdan Huzhalskyi, a student at Kamianets-Podilskyi Ivan Ohiienko National University, won gold at the GSF online Powerlifting Cup

Bohdan Huzhalskyi, a serviceman of the 143rd Joint Training and Instructional Center “Podillia” and a higher education student of the Faculty of Physical Education at Ivan Ohiienko Kamianets-Podilskyi National University, demonstrated remarkable strength of spirit and physical fitness. While on rotation, he became the winner of the online GSF Powerlifting Cup.

Despite extremely challenging conditions – the lack of a stable sleep schedule and proper nutrition, as well as constant deployments to positions – Bohdan managed to win three first places in the weight category up to 100 kg in the following disciplines:

  • bench press;
  • military press (performed for the first time);
  • strict barbell curl, achieving a result of 55 kg.

The road to victory was far from easy. On the front line, volunteers delivered a special “package” to the soldier – a 16-kg kettlebell from his wife, which he used for training in his spare moments. To officially record his results for the competition, Bohdan had to travel an hour and a half to the nearest gym to film his performance.

“Defending Ukraine is my top priority. But if there is a chance and an opportunity to try, it must be taken,” the athlete emphasized.

For Bohdan, sport is not only about medals but also a key factor in survival and effectiveness on the front line. At present, the serviceman has already begun preparing for his next challenge – competitions in kettlebell extreme sport.
