Preparing Future Teachers for the European Educational Space: Erasmus+ (BIP) and eTwinning

For the past two months, students of the specialty 014 Secondary Education (Language and Foreign Literature (English) have been participating in the EU Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Program (BIP) and eTwinning project “A Cultural Kaleidoscope: unity within diversity – preparing student teachers for teaching in Europe.”

This project, implemented together with student teachers and their instructors from Belgium, France, Austria, Germany, and Ukraine (41 students and 8 lecturers), is a new and enriching experience for the Ohiienko University community. We explore the specific features of the European Union in the context of education and teaching through the lens of the EU motto “United in Diversity,” as this principle reflects the essence of Europe, its values, and its cultural, religious, and humanistic heritage.

Our students, together with participants from partner countries, reflect on the history of the EU and its influence on shaping European nations; identify themselves through the prism of language, traditions, values, art, and symbols; and analyze the nuances of concepts such as “multilingualism”, “plurilingualism”, and “translanguaging”, among others.

The sessions held within the project symbolize unity and sincere cooperation among young people who have chosen teaching as their future profession.

Ahead lie many more inspiring meetings and events that encourage us to reach new horizons of collaboration for the sake of the future.

We work, we learn, and we win!
