A New Generation of Ohiienko Students: Freshmen Induction into the K-PNU Student Family

On October 22, on the day marking the 107th anniversary of the founding of Kamianets-Podilskyi Ivan Ohiienko National University, a solemn induction ceremony for first-year students took place at the City House of Culture.

A video greeting was delivered by Ihor Marchuk, Member of the Parliament of Ukraine, Head of the Subcommittee on State-Business Interaction and Investment of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Development, and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of K-PNU.

Heartfelt words of encouragement were expressed by Mykola Tomenko, Ukrainian politician and public figure, leader of the civic movement “Ridna Kraina”, founder of the “Ridna Kraina” Foundation, PhD in Political Sciences, and Professor, who personally attended the event in Kamianets-Podilskyi.

Warm greetings were also extended to the students by Mykhailo Positko, Mayor of Kamianets-Podilskyi; Nataliia Bakhmat, Acting Rector of the University; Anatolii Hlushkovetskyi, First Vice-Rector; and Svitlana Myronova, Vice-Rector for Research. They wished the freshmen endless enthusiasm for learning, creative achievements, and the honorable continuation of Ohiienko University’s traditions.

The festive atmosphere was enhanced by a performance of the military orchestra of the 143rd Joint Training Center “Podillia”, which brought unforgettable emotions and joy to the audience. The students were also congratulated by Vadym Voronetskyi, Honored Coach of Ukraine in powerlifting, PhD in Physical Education and Sports, and lecturer Department of Athletics and Teaching Methodology, who joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine and now defends our country.

During the ceremony, the Prosvita” Society, represented by Dmytro Babiuk, Ph.D. in History, presented a chronicle dedicated to the history of the founding of Kamianets-Podilskyi Ivan Ohiienko National University – a centre of education and spirituality in Podillia that has been shaping Ukraine’s intellectual elite for over a century.

A touching moment of the event was the freshmen’s solemn oath, recited together with Taras Hrynchuk, Speaker of the Student Senate. This moment symbolically marked the students’ entry into the great Ohiienko family.

At the conclusion of the celebration, everyone joined in singing the student anthem “Gaudeamus”, which has become a symbol of youth and devotion to one’s chosen path.

This day will forever remain in the freshmen’s memory as the beginning of a great journey filled with dreams, inspiration, and love for their alma mater.
