On May 23, the Day of Heroes, a memorial plaque was unveiled at Kamianets-Podilskyi Ivan Ohiienko National University in honor of Ukrainian soldier and Hero Ruslan Prus.
Ruslan was a 2004 graduate of the university’s Faculty of Physical Education. He took part in the Anti-Terrorist Operation in eastern Ukraine and returned to defend his homeland in the spring of 2022. The Hero fell exactly two years ago, on May 23, 2023 — the Day of Heroes.
His wife, daughter, sister, relatives, friends, colleagues, professors, and students gathered to honor the bright memory of a man who gave his life for Ukraine’s freedom and independence. Ruslan was not only a brave warrior but also a loving father, a loyal friend, and a man of great honor and profound humanity.
Ruslan was posthumously awarded the title “Hero of Ukraine” along with the Order of the Golden Star, and declared an Honorary Citizen of the city.
His wife Tetiana, Yurii Yurchyshyn, Head of the Department of Theory and Methods of Physical Education, as well as family and friends, shared memories of Ruslan — a true example of courage, and unbreakable faith in victory. He was a good person who deeply loved his homeland and could not stand aside when it needed protection.
Attendees laid flowers at the memorial plaque and paid tribute to his memory.
A commemorative run also took place that day — in honor of Hero of Ukraine Ruslan Prus and all fallen Defenders. The event brought together university faculty and students of Kamianets-Podilskyi Ivan Ohiienko National University.
Eternal, bright memory and honor to the courageous Defender of Ukraine. We are deeply grateful to the hero who gave his life for Ukraine.
As we pass by the university, let us never forget the Heroes who gave their most precious gift — their lives — for us.
