On February 11, 2025, at a meeting of the one-time specialized academic council for the award of the Doctor of Philosophy degree at Kamianets-Podilskyi Ivan Ohiienko National University, Dmytro Babiuk successfully defended his dissertation, “The Emergence and Development of Photographic Art in Kamianets-Podilskyi and Its Phenomenon in the Socio-Cultural Life of the City (Late 1850s – November 1918),” in the field of 03 Humanities, specializing in 032 History and Archaeology. His academic supervisor was Serhii Kopylov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Rector of K-PNU, and Professor of the Department of World History.
The chair of the one-time specialized academic council for the specialty 032 History and Archaeology was Nataliia Ursu, Doctor of Arts, Professor, and Professor of the Department of Fine and Decorative-Applied Arts and Art Restoration at K-PNU.

The defense was conducted in accordance with the Procedure for the Awarding of the Doctor of Philosophy Degree and the Revocation of the Decision of a One-Time Specialized Academic Council of a Higher Education Institution or Research Institution on the Awarding of the Doctor of Philosophy Degree, approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 44 of January 12, 2022 (as amended).
The members of the council unanimously voted to award the Doctor of Philosophy degree to Dmytro Babiuk.
