The Faculty of Pedagogy has been established in 1960, when first admition for the specialty “Pedagogy and Primary Education Methods” (Faculty of Primary School Teachers Training) was announced.

Today, highly qualified academic staff teach at the Faculty of Pedagogy, including 5 Doctors of Science, 39 PhD, who train teachers for general secondary education institutions, preschool education institutions and other spheres of cultural and educational life.

Teachers and students of the Faculty of Pedagogy carry out research in scientific centers, schools and laboratories, in particular: scientific laboratory “Theory and Practice of Primary Education”, scientific and practical laboratory “Theoretical and Methodological Foundations of Preschool Education”, the Scientific Research Center for the Study of Pedagogical and Creative Heritage of M. Leontovych, research laboratory “History, theory and practice of musical instrumental and performing education”, scientific schools “Innovative technologies of professional training of the future music teacher”, “Artistic heritage of Ukraine in the context of modern art studies”.

The Faculty of Pedagogy cooperates with higher education institutions in Ukraine and abroad, students and teachers take an active part in international academic mobility, international creative competitions, olympiads, scientific conferences.

 

Departments of the Faculty of Pedagogy

Department of Theory and Methods of Primary Education trains specialists of the first (bachelor’s) and second (master’s) levels of higher education in the specialty 013 Primary Education. The Department’s staff at the current stage of its development is actively directing its scientific research to the training of future teachers of primary education institutions in the present conditions. The activity of academic staff, their powerful intellectual potential, responsibility and diligence, multiplied by optimism and benevolence, lead to the effective organization of an innovative and accessible educational process of training future primary school teachers.

Department of Theory and Methods of Preschool Education trains specialists of the first (bachelor’s) and second (master’s) levels of higher education in the specialty 012 Preschool Education. Head of the department: Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor L.L. Halamanzhuk. Main directions of the department’s activities are the problems of vocational training of the future preschool teacher, the education of a creative personality in preschool education system, the adaptation of a specialist to market relations, the implementation of education flexibility, rapid response to changes in social processes, the formation of professional competence of students of preschool specialty in accordance with European standards, development of their creativity, pedagogical skills.

Department of Fine Arts, Decorative Arts and Restoration trains specialists in two specialties: 023 Fine Arts, Decorative Arts, Restoration; 014 Secondary Education (Fine Arts). Head of the department: PhD in History of Arts, Associate Professor I.S. Pidhurnyі. The friendly department staff includes Doctors and PhDs in History of Arts, PhD in Architecture, History as well as practicing painters, icon painters, graphic designers, masters of easel graphics, jewelry, fine art restoration. This enables applicants to master a wide range of visual means, acquire professional competencies and choose the direction closest to them within the framework of individual professional development.

Department of Music trains specialists of the first (bachelor’s) and second (master’s) levels of higher education in the specialty 014 Secondary Education (Music). Head of the department: PhD of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor M.A. Pecheniuk. The department aims to form a comprehensively prepared specialist for the national school, capable of organizing and conducting lessons, extracurricular music-educational work at a high level. The specialist possess skills to observe, analyze and generalize the experience of conducting musical pedagogical and educational work. Graduates can work as music teachers in new-type schools (lyceum, college) with in-depth study of musical aesthetic disciplines as well as in higher education institutions.

Department of Pedagogy and Management of Educational Institution trains specialists of the second (master’s) level of higher education in the specialty 073 Management and the third (educational and scientific) level of higher education in the specialty 011 Educational, Pedagogical Sciences. Head of the department: Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor I.O. Kuchynska. Department of Pedagogy and Management of Educational Institution plays  leading role in the pedagogical training of students, organization of pedagogical research, dissemination of pedagogical knowledge among population. The department contributes to the socialization of the students’ personality, formation of their humanistic orientation, development of creative opportunitie and interest in pedagogical activity.

List of specialties

The first (bachelor) level of higher education

012 Preschool Education – the specialty involves the training of competent and competitive specialists in the field of preschool education, capable of teaching and educating children of early and preschool age in education and family centered institutions. Training in the specialty also involves the implementation of speech therapy work with children of preschool age. According to the results of training, graduates can hold the following positions: preschool teacher, preschool education methodologist, teacher-methodologist, speech therapist teacher.

013 Primary Education – the specialty involves the training of highly professional teachers in the field of primary education who possess professional competences, modern innovative pedagogical technologies, methods of organizing creative search, are able to solve non-standard tasks of an innovative nature in the field of primary education. Some subjects are taught in English. Within the framework of national credit mobility, there is the possibility of practical training for students at the general secondary education institutions of Ukraine. According to the results of the training, graduates can hold the following positions: primary school teacher at the general secondary education institutions; teacher-organizer; club leader.

014 Secondary Education (Fine Arts) – basic higher education, which involves obtaining the qualification of a teacher of fine arts in a general secondary education institution. According to the results of training, graduates have the opportunity to conduct master classes, workshops, group and individual classes in fine and decorative arts. The list of educational disciplines of the educational program allows you to acquire a sufficient level of artistic abilities and skills to realize individual artistic creativity.

023 Fine Arts, Decorative Arts, Restoration – studying allows you to master the profession of an artist. Special attention is paid to mastering skills in the restoration. If you wish, you can study various modern and traditional art trends and techniques of fine art, as well as acquire skills in the basics of jewelry in the field of decorative and applied arts.

014 Secondary education (Music) – the specialty involves the training of specialists with the right to continue further professional activity in general secondary education institutions. The graduates are to perform educational, pedagogical and organizational functions; teach school subjects “Art”, “Musical Art” and carry out extracurricular musical and pedagogical activities; organize electives. Graduates can hold the following positions: music teacher in general secondary education institutions; organizer of extracurricular musical and educational work with children; head of the music studio of the choral and ensemble team of the club for musical and creative interests; head of the children’s amateur musical  group (studio, club); head of the choir, folk ensemble.

The second (master's) level of higher education

012 Preschool education – the specialty involves the training of highly qualified specialists who possess the competencies to carry out innovative managerial, monitoring, administrative, financial, economic, and social activities in preschool education institutions. Graduates can hold the following positions: head of a preschool education institution, preschool teacher, preschool methodologist, teacher-methodologist, inspector of preschool education and extracurricular work, inspector-methodologist; students are also able to continue studying at the third (educational and scientific) level of higher education.

013 Primary education – the specialty involves the training of a highly qualified pedagogical worker who is able to perform non-standard tasks and solve educational problems that involve effective educational activities in the New Ukrainian School in the conditions of real autonomy of general secondary education institutions on the basis of partnership. Students will learn to conduct research, implement innovations, create and introduce new content of modern primary education, teaching methods (technologies) in general secondary education institutions, spread the best pedagogical practice and  ensure personal self-development and professional growth. Within the framework of national credit mobility, there is the possibility of practical training for students at the general secondary education institutions of Ukraine. Graduates can hold the following positions: primary school teacher at the general secondary education institutions; methodologist; teacher-organizer; organizer of extracurricular educational work with children; students are also able to continue studying at the third (educational and scientific) level of higher education.

014 Secondary Education (Fine Arts) – complete higher education. After graduating you will be able to work in specialized educational institutions, to teach the integrated course “Art” for high school students, to implement the educational process in higher education institutions of I-II accreditation levels. Students are also able to continue studying at the third (educational and scientific) level of higher education.

023 Fine Arts, Decorative Arts, Restoration – complete higher education. After completing educational program “Restoration” students will acquire advanced skills and abilities in the field of restoration of fabric and wooden bases paintings, learn to carry out scientific analysis and primary examination of works of fine art. Graduates can work in museum institutions, engage in individual artistic activity and freelance work, or they can continue studying at the third (educational and scientific) level of higher education.

014 Secondary education (Music) – the specialty involves the training of highly professional specialists who possess musical and pedagogical skills in the field 01 Education / Pedagogy. Graduates can hold the following positions: music teacher in general secondary education institutions; organizer of extracurricular musical and educational work with children; head of the choir, folk ensemble; head of the ensemble; teacher of choral disciplines of folk and wind instruments; head of the children’s amateur musical  group (studio, club); head of the music studio of the choral and ensemble team of the club for musical and creative interests; head of the music group. Students are also able to continue studying at the third (educational and scientific) level of higher education.

073 Management – the specialty involves the training of a qualified head of an educational institution capable of professionally designing and optimizing the organizational structure of an educational institution; manage its educational and economic activities; control the execution of planned tasks; form the personnel policy of the educational institution and the contingent of persons who study there. Graduates can hold the position of head of educational institutions, or continue studying at the third (educational and scientific) level of higher education.

The third level

011 Educational, Pedagogical Sciences – the specialty involves the training of highly qualified, competitive specialist, integrated into the European and global scientific and educational space, with the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the field of education. The specialist will form competencies necessary for carrying out scientific and research activities, analytical work, scientific consulting in the field of education and pedagogy,  teaching work in higher education institutions.
